Ask any surfer what matters most after the waves and you’ll get the same answer: food. Lots of it, fresh, and preferably without having to go far to get it. That’s why the restaurant has always been at the heart of Surfing Life.
Made for hungry surfers
A morning on the reef burns a lot of energy. Our kitchen is set up for people coming in salty, sunburnt and starving:
- Big breakfasts after dawn patrol: eggs, toast, fresh tropical fruit, juice and proper coffee or Ceylon tea.
- Fresh fish from the local catch, grilled simply with salad. Weligama is a fishing town, and you can taste it.
- Sri Lankan rice and curry: rice with several small curries, sambols and papadum, the way it’s cooked at home.
- Comfort food for when you want something familiar, like a proper burger and fries.
- Cold drinks and fresh juices for long afternoons in the garden.
Fresh and local
We cook with what’s in season and what the boats bring in. That means the menu changes a little through the year, and the fish is as fresh as it gets. Spice levels are easy to adjust. Just tell us if you like it mild or “Sri Lankan hot”.
Open to visitors
You don’t have to be staying with us to eat here. Surfers from nearby guest houses and travellers passing through are always welcome. Our veranda has become one of the friendliest evening hangouts in the village. For bigger groups or special requests, it helps to book a table in advance.
Wi-Fi, board hire and more
While you eat, catch up on emails with our free Wi-Fi, or book a board, a lesson or a surf tour for tomorrow.
Come hungry
Whether you’re staying for a month or just passing through on the coast road, stop by and eat. To reserve a table, call or message Eric on +94 777 401 667.
